Spicy Tit ?
Blogging has been difficult as the tool is blocked in China, where WeirdMeat is currently spending time eating. But we managed to find a little loop hole. It's not perfect but we're going to try to post this.
A friend snapped this photo in Shanghai. A Chinglish menu gem, for sure. "Spicy Tit" ~~~!!!

But what WAS that menu item in reality?
Hi Marilyn, the menu in Chinese says 五香山雀 which means tit (as in the bird in the paridae family, also known as chickadees or titmice) prepared with five spices. The more accurate translation would be five spiced tit instead of spicy tit, although it still doesn't help since the word tit is there. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tit_(bird).
五香山雀 is romanised in hanyu pinyin as wu xiang shan que.
Uh! The worst Chinglish menu dish I've ever seen was "It's sweet to explode the kidney" (next to "the vegetable fries the vegetable) -cannot remember what the thing proper was, but the names are great.
