WeirdMeat.com documents experiences eating strange food, as I travel around the world. What is weird to one, is normal to another. I want to find out why. Includes articles, travel stories, photos.

one of the books you listed, in the devil's garden, is only partially about weird meat. while it talks about it, it's really about food that has been banned now and in the past for religious or political reasons. sort of like human history through a menu--it's pretty interesting, especially seeing how people have viewed food over the ages (it covers all human history and most cultures) and is also very funny
Also check out Stefan Gates' Gastronaut, and Peter Parker Bowles' book (forgotten the title).
All excellent books.
The list should also include the fantastic cookbook "Unmentionable Cuisine" by Calvin Schwabe, which has helped me with recipes for rodents, amphibians, etc, on a number of occasions, before the advent of the internet.
And don't forget "Eat Not This Flesh: Food Avoidances from Prehistory to the Present" by Frederick J. Simoons, for a philosophical take on the subject.
I love this blog!!
Anyone have a good recipe for hagfish? First time I've ever seen Google crap out for a recipe. Just got some frozen at the local Korean foodstore (Savannah, GA).
Thanks! -Art Cox
